The showstopper of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's US visit later this month may well be his meeting with Apple CEO Tim Cook in San Francisco. This could have implications far beyond the headlines it will generate. Apple, it is believed, is looking to invest in building manufacturing capacities in India, which could come as a huge boost for Modi's 'Make in India' project.
While auto companies are already here, tech companies like Google don't really manufacture. Apple, if it comes, would be really into manufacture and signal Indian manufacturing capabilities.
Principle of DC motor
This DC or direct current motor works on the principal, when a current carrying conductor is placed in a magnetic field, it experiences a torque and has a tendency to move. This is known as motoring action. If the direction of current in the wire is reversed, the direction of rotation also reverses. When magnetic field and electric field interact they produce a mechanical force, and based on that the working principle of dc motor established.

The direction of rotation of a this motor is given by Fleming’s left hand rule, which states that if the index finger, middle finger and thumb of your left hand are extended mutually perpendicular to each other and if the index finger represents the direction of magnetic field, middle finger indicates the direction of current, then the thumb represents the direction in which force is experienced by the shaft of the dc motor.
Structurally and construction wise a direct current motor is exactly similar to a DC generator, but electrically it is just the opposite. Here we unlike a generator we supply electrical energy to the input port and derive mechanical energy from the output port. We can represent it by the block diagram shown below.
Here in a DC motor, the supply voltage E and current I is given to the electrical port or the input port and we derive the mechanical output i.e. torque T and speed ω from the mechanical port or output port.
The input and output port variables of the direct current motor are related by the parameter K.

So from the picture above we can well understand that motor is just the opposite phenomena of a DC generator, and we can derive both motoring and generating operation from the same machine by simply reversing the ports.
'How a Three Phase Induction Motor works, why it is self starting..?'
An electrical motor is such an electromechanical device which converts electrical energy into a mechanical energy. In case of three phase AC operation, most widely used motor is Three phase induction motor as this type of motor does not require any starting device or we can say they are self starting induction motor.
For better understanding the principle of three phase induction motor, the basic constructional feature of this motor must be known to us. This Motor consists of two major parts:
Stator: Stator of three phase induction motor is made up of numbers of slots to construct a 3 phase winding circuit which is connected to 3 phase AC source. The three phase winding are arranged in such a manner in the slots that they produce a rotating magnetic field after AC is given to them
Rotor: Rotor of three phase induction motor consists of cylindrical laminated core with parallel slots that can carry conductors. Conductors are heavy copper or aluminum bars which fits in each slots & they are short circuited by the end rings. The slots are not exactly made parallel to the axis of the shaft but are slotted a little skewed because this arrangement reduces magnetic humming noise & can avoid stalling of motor.

According to Faraday’s law
an emf induced in any circuit is due to the rate of change of magnetic flux linkage through the circuit. As the rotor winding in an induction motor are either closed through an external resistance or directly shorted by end ring, and cut the stator rotating magnetic field, an emf is induced in the rotor copper bar and due to this emf a current flows through the rotor conductor.
Here the relative velocity between the rotating flux and static rotor conductor is the cause of current generation; hence as per Lenz's law the rotor will rotate in the same direction to reduce the cause i.e. the relative velocity.
Thus from the working principle of three phase induction motor it may observed that the rotor speed should not reach the synchronous speed produced by the stator. If the speeds equals, there would be no such relative velocity, so no emf induction in the rotor, & no current would be flowing, and therefore no torque would be generated. Consequently the rotor can not reach at the synchronous speed. The difference between the stator (synchronous speed) and rotor speeds is called the slip. The rotation of the magnetic field in an induction motor has the advantage that no electrical connections need to be made to the rotor.
Thus the three phase induction motor is:
• Self-starting.
• Less armature reaction and brush sparking because of the absence of commutators and brushes that may cause sparks.
• Robust in construction.
• Economical.
• Easier to maintain.
'Pressure to be online 24x7 taking toll on the young'
Young people are experiencing depression, anxiety, and sleep deprivation because they feel a constant need to be on social media sites 24x7, according to new research.
Professors from the University of Glasgow questioned over 460 respondents aged between 11 and 17 regarding their overall -- but specifically night-time -- social media use, and also measured sleep quality, self esteem, and emotional investment in the sites.
Results showed how a constant need to make them selves available online was making teens feel tired down, and anxious as they struggled to keep in-the-loop with what was happening on the internet.
One of the researchers, Dr Heather Cleland Woods, described how adolescence can be a period of in creased vulnerability for the onset of depression and anxiety, with poor sleep quality contributing to this. She said: "Evidence is increasingly supporting a link between social media use and wellbeing -particularly during adolescence -but the causes of this are unclear."

The Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13 is a convertable laptop created by Lenovo and first announced at the International CES 2012 in January. The Yoga 13 gets its name from its ability taken on various form factors due to its screen being mounted on a special two-way hinge.
The name "Yoga" is a reference to the unit's design that makes use of a double hinge to allow four different configurations in order to provide maximum flexibility to the user.
The Yoga 13 is 17mm thick. The Yoga's hybrid design was achieved through the use of a special patented hinge that allows the keyboard to flip flush to the back of the display. The Yoga 13’s hinge allows the device to be held partway open so it can be set upright on a flat surface as a display.
